The Produce Crisis
Fruits and vegetables make up 35% of all surplus food, and we're throwing away over 30 million tons per year in the US (ReFED).

And at the same time, we're not eating enough of it.
For the last 40 years, we've seen the price of produce drastically outpacing the cost increase of other foods. Today, fewer than 1 in 10 people in the US eat the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables (Partnership for a Healthier America).

The Solution
If all ~115 eligible retailers in the US launched Flashfood, reduced their shrink by 27% and diverted it entirely to people experiencing food insecurity, we could lift 8 million people out of food insecurity each year.
